School Swimming Programs

Here at PARC, our vision is that “Every child in Frankston can swim”.  This means being able to swim 50m and to tread water before they leave primary school.  Our world first study in partnership with Deakin University shows us that children retain swimming skills when participating in intensive lesson programs, weekly after school programs or even better, a combination of both.

Our PARC Schools program has been closely mapped to the Victorian Curriculum, offering each and every student the opportunity to fulfil the curriculum requirements at every stage.  Whilst the funding cannot be used for the cost of instruction, it can be used for the cost of transport to the pool and other associated costs.

Victoria is now the highest government funded state in Australia for school swimming lessons with each and every public and Catholic primary school receiving $90 per student, based on Grade 6 enrollments, to support the cost of school lessons.

Swimming is mandated in the Victorian Curriculum and this funding is to help our primary school students learn how to swim and to become safer around water.
